My fiance and I are in Louisville, KY and I recently found out the extension of my family (mom’s side) that made it to America are buried in Cave Hill Cemetery.  

It was surreal to stand over the man that’s responsible for my family being in this country and the woman that he found to love here.  More surreal was her name, Christiana…which is the name of my youngest sister, she died very soon after being born prematurely.  It’s a point in my family that we rarely talk about, and it was emotional to stand over the grave of the woman that made Christiana a family name.  

Apparently the Stilz side of my family had a significant presence in Louisville during their time, I passed a road in Crescent Hill yesterday bearing their name.  While I understand this may not mean much to most of you, I found it exciting.  Thanks to my grandmother (Nanny) for giving me the info neccessary to find this part of my heritage.
